Our English Bluebells are true native bluebells grown from seed sourced from our native woodland or taken from woodlands we work with. We can guarantee our Bluebell plants are true UK Native species. The bluebell bulbs in the green are 3 year old bulbs and they should flower in their first year after planting. The plants come with bulbs, roots and leaves and sometimes as a small plug. You need to plant the whole plant or whole plug and be careful not to let the roots dry out. We start checking our bulbs in early January and send out for despatch when ready in March up to May.

We can guarantee our plants are true UK Native species. Price quoted per plant/bulb. This product has a minimum quantity of 10 plants. For orders over 1000 Bluebells please contact us and we can arrange bespoke quotations.

All our plants are native British wildflowers grown in Peat-free growing media/compost in our sustainable nursery.

Plant Name: English Bluebells

Latin Name: Hyacinthoides non-scripta

Description: One of the most magnificent spectacles of the British Isles is its woodlands, blanketed with English bluebells in the springtime. Bluebells favour well-drained soils in woodlands, scrub, pastures, heaths and sea cliffs.

Native Bluebells have nodding flower heads, usually with long narrow leaves with a blunt point. The flowers are usually a darker blue and the flower stem can be quite dark. Overall the native bluebell is smaller than the non-native Spanish Bluebell or hybrid plants. Care needs to be taken when planting, so that the non-native bluebells are not growing near. This will reduce the risk of cross pollination.

Flowering Times: April to May

Flower Colour: Deep Blue

Height Plant: Plant stalk can be up to 40cm

Management: Bluebells will thrive in full or partial shade, and prefer rich soils, although are tolerant of most sites. They do very well under deciduous trees and long-term they may require uplifting and sorting to maintain the stock.
