Common Name: Oxeye Daisy
Latin Name: Leucanthemum vulgare
Description: The Oxeye Daisy plant is a familiar and attractive grassland perennial and our largest native member of the daisy family. It has a medium tall un-branched stem topped by a solitary composite flower of white rays (petals) surrounding a yellow disc floret. Once you become familiar with them the leaves of oxeye daisy are quite distinctive with their toothed spoon shape and long leaf stalks. Oxeye Daisy is also known as Moon Daisy or Dog Daisy. The open flower heads of Oxeye Daisy attract a large range of pollinating insects, particularly bees, butterflies and hoverflies.
Height: 20-70cm
Flowering time: May to September
Flower Colour: White with yellow disc floret in flower centre.
Management: Oxeye Daisy prefers well drained, neutral to base rich soils, and does not do well in waterlogged areas. It is found in meadows and moderately grazed pastures as well as waste ground, railway banks and road verges. Oxeye Daisy needs cutting back in July or August.
Kindly be aware that as autumn approaches, our wildflower plants might be delivered in a state where they appear to have passed their peak. We strive to inform you about this at the time of your order. It is common for native plants to exhibit leaf blotches or have dead/brown leaves during specific times of the year; this is entirely natural. We assure you that we meticulously inspect the root condition, ensuring their robust health. Once planted, the plug plant will respond accordingly.
Please understand that owing to the perishable nature of our plug plants, the usual right to cancel does not apply.
