Latin name: Anthyllis vulneraria
Description: The Kidney Vetch plant is characterised by its silky pinnate leaves and flower head crowded with many small flowers sitting atop little woolly cushions. Kidney Vetch is the sole food plant for the larvae of small blue butterfly. It is found in sand dunes, chalk grassland and cliffs across the UK.

Colour: Yellow-orange
Management: The Kidney Vetch plant thrives in chalk grassland which is grazed. It will cope with an early cut in spring, but not after mid May. It is a hardy plant, doing best in well-drained soils.
