Our Woodland/Shaded Area 40 Plug Plant Mix supplies typical wildflower species found in shaded areas. See below for habitat information. You will receive planting and maintenance/management advice with your order.
All our plants are true UK native British wildflowers grown from UK sourced native wild seed. We grow our plants in Peat-free growing media in our sustainable nursery.
By buying our plants/seeds you are supporting British based growers and suppliers who often work with local farmers-businesses. All our plants are grown from British Seed and raised in Britain. Please be aware some suppliers on the internet bring in plants/seed which are non-native imports and may not be true UK native plants/seeds. Whilst these may be cheaper, they may not be true UK native plants and may not be suited to our environment.

Plants: Our shaded area plug plants are provided ready to plant beside a hedgerow, in a woodland or in a shaded area of the garden. Our shaded area plug plants are grown in growing media suitable for the conditions they will be planted in. All our plants are UK native plants and are grown from wild seed.
Habitat: These plants do best with a bit of shade but not too much i.e. under a dense conifer woodland. The generally prefer dry soils but will cope a little moisture. Do not plant if the area floods. They will cope with neutral and slightly lime rich soils or acid soils. If you have an area of leaf litter adding this to soil is good. Do not plant where these plants can be grazed or cut as they do not do well in these areas.
Management: We recommend allowing these plants to flower and most will die back. If they do it is worth just cutting off the dead material but do allow the plant time to seed. If you have heavy soil it might be worth adding a bit of leaf litter to increase the soil nutrient level. Always be aware you will have to manage weeds in the first 2-3 years after planting.
PLEASE NOTE - We offer free planting & management advice with every order.
Kindly be aware that as autumn approaches, our wildflower plants might be delivered in a state where they appear to have passed their peak. We strive to inform you about this at the time of your order. It is common for native plants to exhibit leaf blotches or have dead/brown leaves during specific times of the year; this is entirely natural. We assure you that we meticulously inspect the root condition, ensuring their robust health. Once planted, the plug plant will respond accordingly.
Please understand that owing to the perishable nature of our plug plants, the usual right to cancel does not apply.
