Latin Name: Achillea ptarmica
Description: The Sneezewort plant is an attractive perennial growing mostly on clay soils in meadows, roadsides, ditches and banks. It has clusters of small white daisy-like flowers on erect stems. The white flowers attract hoverflies and other insects. The plant gets its name from the crushing of its leaves which causes sneezing. It is present throughout the UK and northern Ireland, having a more patchy distribution in southern Ireland.

Management: Sneezewort plants can tolerate a range of soil types, including nutritionally poor soils, although it prefers well-drained, damp soils. It can tolerate maritime exposure, but cannot grow in the shade.
