SKU: Wetland - Pond Edge Area 40 plug mix

Minimum Order 1 Plug Mix

Our Wetland/Pond Edge Area 40 Plug Plant Mix supplies typical wildflower species found in wetland areas and pond edges. See below for habitat information. You will receive planting and maintenance/management advice with your order.

All our plants are true UK native British wildflowers grown from UK sourced native wild seed. We grow our plants in Peat-free growing media in our sustainable nursery.

By buying our plants/seeds you are supporting British based growers and suppliers who often work with local farmers-businesses. All our plants are grown from British Seed and raised in Britain. Please be aware some suppliers on the internet bring in plants/seed which are non-native imports and may not be true UK native plants/seeds. Whilst these may be cheaper, they may not be true UK native plants and may not be suited to our environment.

This product has a minimum quantity of 1 item or 40 plug plants.

Your order will consist of 5 plants from 8 of the species listed below - a total of 40 plug plants:

Branched Bur-reed (Sparganium erectum)      Brooklime (Veronica beccabunga)
Common Valerian (Valeriana officinalis)    Flowering rush (Butomus umbellatus)
Glaucous Sedge (Carex flacca)        Lesser Pond Sedge (Carex acutiformis)
Marsh Cinquefoil (Potentilla palustris)       Marsh Marigold (Caltha palustris)
Marsh Violet (Viola palustris)       Marsh Woundwort (Stachys palustris)
Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria)      Pendulous Sedge (Carex pendula)
Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria)    Ragged-robin (Silene flos-cuculi)

Water Mint (Mentha aquatica)      Water Plantain (Alisma plantago-aquatica)
Yellow Flag Iris (Iris pseudacorus)         Common Reed (Phragmites australis)

The variety of species included in the plug plant mix depends on the time of year and stock availability.

Plants: Our Wetland/Pond Edge Area plug plants are ready to plant by the edge a pond in the garden, temporary flooded areas or in a wetland. These plants are grown in growing media suitable for the conditions they will be planted in. All our plants are UK native plants and are grown from wild seed.

Habitat: These plants need to be planted in wet ground, ideally near water. Some of these plants can grow in very shallow water but usually this needs to partially dry in the summer - NOTE These are not aquatic or floating plants so cannot be in water all year round. They can cope with winter flooding. Ideally prefer on the edge of a pond with their roots wet but stems above water. They prefer neutral soils. Do not plant where these plants could be grazed or mown between March and September.

Management: We recommend you allow these plants to flower through the summer. Let them set seed and drop seed. If you want they can be cut back in late Autumn but leave at least 75mm of the stem - ensure this section is not covered by water until the winter. These plants usually winter as Rhizomes so there is not much showing in the winter. They will come again in late Spring the following year. Always be aware you will have to manage weeds in the first 2-3 years after planting.

PLEASE NOTE - We offer free planting & management advice with every order.

Kindly be aware that as autumn approaches, our wildflower plants might be delivered in a state where they appear to have passed their peak. We strive to inform you about this at the time of your order. It is common for native plants to exhibit leaf blotches or have dead/brown leaves during specific times of the year; this is entirely natural. We assure you that we meticulously inspect the root condition, ensuring their robust health. Once planted, the plug plant will respond accordingly.

Please understand that owing to the perishable nature of our plug plants, the usual right to cancel does not apply.
