Common Name: Yellow Flag
Latin Name: Iris psuedacorus
Description: Also known as water flag, or yellow iris, this plant can resemble the garden iris. Its long, dark green leaves are sharp, like pampas grass, so care needs to be taken when handling. It is a tall bold plant, inhabiting wet areas such as marshes, ditches, ponds, lakes and flooded gravel pits across the UK and Ireland. It attracts dragonflies, damselflies, bees, hoverflies and moths.
Flower Colour: Yellow
Flowering Times: May to July
Plant Height: 100-150 cm and can reach up to 10cm in diameter.
Management: The Yellow Flag plant does well in wetland habitats like riverbanks or around local ponds. It requires some management each year by cutting back and pulling up some of the rhizomes.
Kindly be aware that as autumn approaches, our wildflower plants might be delivered in a state where they appear to have passed their peak. We strive to inform you about this at the time of your order. It is common for native plants to exhibit leaf blotches or have dead/brown leaves during specific times of the year; this is entirely natural. We assure you that we meticulously inspect the root condition, ensuring their robust health. Once planted, the plug plant will respond accordingly.
Please understand that owing to the perishable nature of our plug plants, the usual right to cancel does not apply.
