Latin : Hypericum perforatum

Description : Perforate St John's Wort is the commonest of the (approximately) dozen species of St. John's Wort in the UK. It is present throughout most of the UK and Ireland, although rarer in northern Scotland and areas of western Ireland. It prefers lime-rich, sandy soils such as dry grassland, scrub, open woods and waste ground.

Flowering time : June to September

Colour : Golden yellow

Management : Perforate St John's wort is will grow in most neutrail or alkaline soils, and thrives in full sun or partial shade.
