Common name: Bloody Crane's-bill
Latin name: Geranium sanguineum
Description: Bloody Crane's-bill largely favours areas of lime-rich soils; it is a common feature of coastal areas, inhabiting cliffs, rocky slopes and sand dunes, but is also found further inland in areas of limestone pavement. The solitary flowers are brightly coloured, and stand out well against the background of dark, lobed leaves.
Flowering time: June to August
Management: Bloody Cranesbill does not cope well with regular cutting, and prefers basic calcium rich soil. It prefers sunshine to shade.
