Latin Name : Succisa pratensis
Description : The Devil's-bit Scabious is widespread in the UK, and can be found in damp meadows, marshes, woodland edges and riverbanks. It is a fairly late bloomer, flowering between July and October, and its rounded flower heads attract a range of butterflies and bees. Most notable of these is the scarce Marsh Fritillary butterfly, of which the Devil's-bit Scabious is a key food plant.

Management: Devil's-bit Scabious plants can be planted in borders but does best in grazed wet grassland and left to flower well into September.
